Dry Freight Transport
Dry freight transport moves loads of non-perishable items. The
transportation can be by trucks, rail, air, or water and can include any
product that will not perish such as clothing, cars, parts, and
appliances to name a few. Nearly every form of business uses dry freight
transport services including small businesses. Several small businesses
may use carriers who offer dedicated lanes as well as less than load
shipments.
All forms of trucks can be used to transport dry freight. If moved by
rail or by water an ever increasing number of shippers are using
containers. Approximately 90% of all dry freight is moved by using
containers. One reason for this, containers can be easily loaded or
moved from one form of transportation to another by using huge lifts.
Containers have become so popular that many moving companies provide
container services. A container or pod is delivered to a family's home
giving the family as much time as they need to load the pod that is then
picked up and transported by the movers.
